The Bethpage Energy Center 3, located in Hicksville, New York, is a combined-cycle, natural gas-fired facility that incorporates advanced air emissions control technology including selective catalytic reduction and an oxidation catalyst.  An enclosed design improves visual appeal.

The facility provides up to 80 megawatts of electricity to Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) customers under a 20-year contract for capacity, energy and other energy-related services, helping to meet energy needs on Long Island under a comprehensive energy resource plan. 

Calpine also owns and operates four other power plants on Long Island – the 56-megawatt Bethpage Power Plant, the 48-megawatt Bethpage Peaker, the 47-megawatt Stony Brook Power Plant and the 121-megawatt cogeneration unit located at Kennedy International Airport.
