The Sutter Energy Center is a highly efficient, natural gas-fired, combined-cycle facility with advanced emissions control technologies located in Yuba City, California.  The plant consists of two combustion turbine generators, two heat recovery steam generators with duct burners and a single condensing steam turbine generator.

The Sutter plant reduces demand for California water resources by utilizing air cooling technologies.  Sutter is also a zero liquid discharge plant, further reducing its impact on the environment.

Calpine entered into a new Resource Adequacy contract with Pacific Gas and Electric Company for the Sutter Energy Center’s full capacity beginning in June 2014.
